Insurgents attack military barracks


Boko Harm Islamist attacked a military base in the northeast Nigeria (Maiduguri) on Friday 14th March 2014 and freed dozens of insurgents.

Witness Said before the attacked the Giwa barracks, they opened fire in a residential Neighborhood  which started after 7.00 (0600.GMT) Gunmen hurled explosives into the compound setting several buildings ablaze.

Another witness said the gunmen entered Maiduguri after crossing a river on the fringes of the city, then passed through the residential neighbourhood of Fauri.





The insurgents forced their way into the barracks prison and freed several prisoners(Member).
The Defense Spokesmen( Major General. Chris Olukoade) said the insurgents have been hit hard by military  bombardment in recent weeks and Boko Haram attacked the barracks to boost their depleted stock of fighters. Olukolade said the Islamist staged the attack in response to series of military operations launched across the northeast in recent days and these have destroyed their camps, killing  many insurgents.

Things seems to be taking better shape. The best thing boko haram will do for Nigeria is to come out openly to face the military not minding the level of sppnspors or sophitication.
