Banks cry out over Fate of Investments in power sector.
Nigerian Banks has expressed their fear of loosing their investment in PHCN. Banks invested over 1 Trillion Naira in the acquisition of the privatization of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria.
The GMD/CEO fo Diamond Bank Plc, Dr. Alex Otti said that banking industry has invested well over 750 billion in Naira into the power sector and ready to do more that was in last year in a power investment Forum in Abuja.
The investors (Banks) are calling for increase in the tariff and price of gas to help boost the returns on investment.
Some executives of banks who expressed their opinion in the just concluded Seventh Lagos Economic summit, tagged Ehingbeti this year (2014) lamented that the recent privatized Power companies is not meeting the expected revenue and be of the opinion of increasing the tariff to enable them repay the debts.
UPDATE ON CASUALTIES FROM EXPLOSION IN NYANYA, ABUJA
Security agencies confirmed that 71 persons have so far lost their lives, while 124 others have been moved to about 8 local hospitals for treatment.
Frank Mba, a police spokesman, publicly disclosed that at least 71 people had died, and relayed this to journalists on behalf of other security agencies at the scene of the blast.
He added that 16 luxury buses were razed with 24 others were destroyed in the blast.
The police spokesperson said information centres would be opened at all the hospitals where survivors were being attended to in order to provide information to their families.
Experts from the Bomb Disposal Squad have since combed the area. Security agencies have been placed on red alert throughout the Federal Capital Territory following the explosion that occurred at about 6.55 a.m. The agencies are already paying very close attention to all vulnerable points, including motor parks.
Security agencies further advised the public to avoid unnecessary huge crowds, and be security conscious at all times.
Most of the affected passengers were workers and petty traders who were to be conveyed by commercial vehicles to the Abuja City Centre.

EARLY MORNING BOMBING BY BOKO HARAM KILLS MANY IN ABUJA MOTOR PARK
Scores of people were
killed and maimed as an early morning bomb explosion rocked a motor park in
Nyanya area of the Federal Capital Territory,
Abuja on
Monday.
Nyanya is a satellite town bordering the
FCT and Nasarawa State.The explosion reportedly occurred in a section of the park allocated to luxury buses popularly called “El-Rufa’i buses.”
Worst hit was the area where vehicles plying Abuja-Ilorin-Kabba were parked.
Workers on their way to their workplaces were most affected.
An eyewitness, who survived with a deep cut in his right leg, told our correspondent that the explosion occurred while he was calling passengers into his car.
He claimed that human flesh littered his car and others around it.
A combined team of security agencies and fire fighters are currently retrieving bodies and putting out fire at the scene.
The incident had led to disruption of movement into Abuja from that area with many workers, who were on their ways to work, stranded.
The loud sound and thick smoke that characterised the explosion attracted people to the scene from neighbouring areas such as Karu, Mararaba and Masaka among others.
