At exactly 8.47pm yesterday Monday,12th May just immediately after the Pedestrain bridge along Iyana-Oworo towards Oworoshoki after a bend from the Police/LASMA checkpoint, a man was found in the dirty, stinky canal.
An eyewitness said he posed as a mad man, he swam from the egde toward Ifako to that area to kidnap a child, as the passersby saw him he dodged under the bridge. he refused to come out of the canal, people and cars were so many the it contributed to the Monday traffic on the Third mainland bridge.
The Mob stoned him, threw bottles, sticks at him. He tried to escape, after much efforts, the mob dragged him out and beat him to the point of death. During all these the Police/LASTMA pretended they are not aware of the happenings, after the crowd pulled him(Kidnapper) then the Police came around and rescued him from the crowd.
Police from different zones came from Bariga, Ifako and Oworoshoki. They chased the crowd and took the guy away.
