One of the best Nigerian Producer, actress, ACE Producer, Amaka Igwe is dead


Amaka Igwe reportedly died on Monday night in Enugu after an asthma attack. The veteran producer was reported to have travelled to Enugu in company of her husband to make preparations for a new Igbo soap, when the incident occurred.
She did not respond to initial rescue operations and passed away before arriving at the hospital.
Amaka Igwe was the founder of BoBTV Expo, Top radio Fm amongst other business ventures.
She produced popular soap operas like Fuji House of Commotion, Checkmate, and films including Violated, Rattle Snake amongst others
She found the massive studios of the Enugu State Broadcasting Service from where such classics like the long rested Basi and Company and the New Masquerade were produced.
Amaka had conceived Checkmate by watching Mirror in the Sun. She had written a script about an all-conquering female hero like Queen Amina and had conceived it like a traditional stage play, but when she saw Mirror in the Sun, she decided to make it a modern all conquering female hero story.

She is survived by her husband of 21 years Charles Igwe, three children, and her mother.

NCS has signed a bilateral agreement between Benin, Cameroun, others on vehicle transit scheme






 The Flagged off of the new transit scheme designed to facilitate shipment of automobile into Nigeria and imported vehicles are to be handed over to NCS as part of measures to curb smuggling, bring about transparency and accountability.

The Nigerian Ambassador to Benin Republic, Lawrence Olufemi Obisakin, who flagged-off the scheme, applauded President Goodluck Jonathan and his Benin Republic counterpart, Yayi Boni, for making the project a reality. 

He said:
 
‘’The official handover of imported vehicles by the Benin Customs Service to their Nigerian counterpart represents the result of several years of bilateral relationship.
‘’We have to thank God for the friendly and fraternal relationship existing between President Goodluck Jonathan and his Benin Counterpart, President Boni Yayi as well as the diplomatic and customs services of both countries.’’ According to Obisakin, Seme border is strategic for many reasons “including being sited between two commercial capital cities of Cotonou and Lagos,which makes it the busiest land border in West African sub region”. 

Speaking through an interpreter, according to a statement issued by Customs Public Relations Officer for Seme Command, Ernest Olottah,the Chef De Brigade of Benin customs at Seme Krake, Captain Imouru Idrissou said the programme will advance the economic integration agenda of both countries and foster the growth of the existing unity among their nationals.

Security agencies : Nigerian Navy and JTF have promised to tackle and reduce oil thieves.






 The success of the team against oil thieves led by Capt. Hassan Dogara was attributed to the security agencies collaboration.

Two wooden boats and 55 metric tonnes of suspected crude oil belonging to oil thieves are burnt during a riot act by the Commanding Officer, Forward operation Base Bonny, Capt. Hassan Dogara.
The patrol revealed that some speed boats and a barge containing a total of 285 Metric tones if suspected Petroleum products in creek in Kalibiama Community Bonny, River state.
The Commanding Officer, 146 Battalion, Lieutenant Col. George Nyekwu, said that they would do all they could to ensure that the activities of the oil thieves would come to an end in the region.
“We will chase the oil thieves far away from here the whole of this vicinity. We will make sure that nothing of such will take place here again. Though it is a difficult task, we will try within our own capability to make sure that we stop them,” he said.
In September 2013, President Goodluck Jonathan had said that Nigeria was losing 1.5 billion Naira daily to oil theft and had asked the security agencies to tackle the increasing trend that was affecting the revenue from crude.

VP's immediate Brother died in a fatal anccident.






The immediate younger brother of the Vice President (Dr. Sambo Nnamdi) of Nigeria had a fatal accident which claimed his life.

The 58year old Capt. Y.S. Sambo died today April 27th after his car BMW X series hit a tree and busted into flames along Bill Clinton Drive, Airport road FCT.  

He is survived by a wife, three daughters, 10 brothers and sisters. He has since been buried according to Islamic rites.
